Tenure
Cremation and Memorials
The tenure period will depend on the date on which the memorial
was purchased.
Memorials purchased prior to 1st January 1984 are not subject to
the 25 year tenure period. It is the intention that they will remain
in perpetuity.
Memorials purchased after 1st January 1984 are subject to a renewable
25 year tenure period, beginning at purchase, but starting afresh
at each placement of cremated remains. It would cease (i.e. become
renewable) 25 years after the designed capacity of the memorial
is reached, or when and if 25 years have elapsed since the previous
placement (if any).
Burial plots and crypts, once used for at least 1 burial or entombment
of bodily remains (i.e. not cremated remains) exist in perpetuity.
